Beginning with the 2013 - 2014 school year, the School Commission determined that all St. Joseph School parents are required to complete a minimum of 18 hours of volunteer service to the school.
These volunteer hours can be fulfilled during the school day or by helping with some of the volunteer opportunities provided by the Home and School Assn. The school newspaper, The Green Wave, also will have other opportunities listed throughout the year.
Many working parents volunteer over their lunch hour on the playground or in the cafeteria. We have dads and many stay-at-home moms who trade baby sitting duties so they can have opportunities to come in as well. It's noteworthy to mention that we have parents who volunteer many more hours than the 18 hour requirement. So with a little creativity, parents should be able to find a variety of activities that will help to complete this 18 hour requirement.
